Rug Cleaning Service Tips for Longer-Lasting Rugs

If your vacuum is set too low, this will damage a rug, not to mention your vacuum’s brushes and drive belt. However, if it is set too high, this means nothing will be picked up. In order to set your vacuum’s ideal height, simply place it at its highest setting, switch it on, and then slowly lower it until you feel the vacuum tugging itself forwards.

Dirt can act like thousands of blades, which will cut a rug’s fibers. When walking on a dirty rug, you will only serve to grind these particles deep into the fibers, making minute cuts in the fibers. All the fuzz you see in your vacuum cleaner is your beautiful rug slowly headed out the door, piece by piece. When dirt damages the fibers, it will dull the rug’s sheen, this is why most high-traffic areas look duller than the rest. Over a period of time, dirt will wear away your rugs fibers also, this will mat them and make them stain easily. Which is why our rug cleaning service has provided a few simple tips which will ensure your rug is kept as dirt-free as possible.

Vacuum regularly

In order to properly protect your rug, vacuum high-traffic areas at least twice a week, and the rest once a week. Oily stains will attract more dirt, which is why regular vacuuming reduces build-up.

Begin with a clean bag

A dirty bag will greatly reduce your vacuum’s suction power. The reason most bagless vacuums cease working is their filters aren’t changed enough. Replace or wash all filters in bagless vacuums, at least, every 3 months. Or, replace vacuum bags once they are three-quarters full.

When it comes to cleaning an Oriental rug, Persian rug, or fine area rug, not all cleaning methods are created equal. While these systems may be suitable for some machine-made rugs, they
